Obituary of Frances E. Lofgren

Frances E. Lofgren, 94, formerly of 174 Barrett Avenue, died Saturday April 16, 2022, in Absolutcare of Westfield. She was born October 26, 1927, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Frank and Elvira Herbstritt Jandrew. Prior to her retirement in 1989, she was employed by Jamestown Public Schools as a food service worker in several schools. She earlier had worked at The Post Journal in the mail room. She was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She had a generous and caring heart for her family and friends. She had such a sweet appreciation for God's Beauty in rainbows, sunsets and butterflies. She nurtured seven cats and loved each one of them dearly. She loved to solve crossword puzzles and read anything from poetry to National Geographic. God gave her the strength to bear many of life's obstacles and she will be missed more than words can say. She loved life and was a cancer survivor for 41 years. We will miss her with all our hearts. Surviving is a daughter V. Jean Marie Saylor of Jamestown and a son James Lofgren of N. Falmouth, MA. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert R. Lofgren, whom she married October 26, 1946, and who died April 4, 2006; stepparents who raised her Flora and James Brown and a sister Gerry Roos. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed.
