My first recollections of Al go back to my days of working with John Dunderdale at AVM's Precision Tops Division in Brooklyn Square. Thirty years later, Al was still my Pearl City rep when I concluded my career with AVM at their Signore Division in Ellicottville. Al was still my representative because he brought to the table valuable knowledge about the finishing business - the latest innovations in equipment and coatings. He didn't just know about them, he could show our guys just how to use them to make a difficult job much easier. Al was a gentleman through and through and an eternal optimist. His ready smile made a lot of long days much easier. When Signore closed leaving many of our employees without jobs, Al grieved with them-not for his loss of business, but for their loss, and for the mutual loss of well earned friendships.
My condolences, you have lost a husband, a father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and the world has lost one of the "good guys".
