Obituary of Rosaria T. Rapp
Rosaria T. "Sara" Rapp, 69 years young, passed away Friday May 13, 2022, in her home surrounded by loved ones after a courageous 29-month battle with cancer.
She was born April 18, 1953, in Tortorici, Sicily, the only child of Guiseppi and Sebastiana "Bessie" Casella Riolo.
Sara and her mother immigrated to the United States starting a new life with her dad and family that had come over before them.
Sara graduated from Jamestown High School in 1973.
Prior to her retirement in 2015, Sara was employed by WCA UPMC Chautauqua as an emergency room registrar and previously at Jamestown General Hospital from 1976 until its closing August 8, 1988. Throughout her career she always was one of the first people patients contacted. She made them feel at ease and helped them through their trip to the emergency room.
Sara will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mom, and nana. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed all her traditional Sicilian meals and even accomplished some Swedish dishes. She enjoyed her many trips to Florida, visiting friends along the way, cruising the Caribbean and stopping at many of the islands. However, she was always happy to be in her home of 44 years and spending time with her grandsons.
Surviving is her husband of 44 years Gregory, whom she married August 20, 1977; two daughters Danielle Rapp and Kasi Joe (Elgin) Wiles and three grandchildren Camren Guiseppe Stilson, Michael Gregory Jabczynski and McKenzie Wiles; her aunt Nina Riolo, many cousins, nieces, nephews, large extended family, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and many aunts and uncles.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and techs at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center for their dedication and care along with member of Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care. In addition, special loving thanks to Joe, Marybeth, Lucia, Jen, Mark, Amy and Julie for their unselfish help during Sar's last days.
Per Sara's wishes a memorial celebration of life will be held at a later date. "It will be fine."
