Obituary of Omer S. Jones

Omer S. Jones, 92, of 1538 Orr Street, died Saturday June 4, 2022, in UPMC Chautauqua. He was born February 12, 1930, in Yatesboro, PA, a son of the late Preston and Florence Schriver Jones. He was a Korean War veteran of the US Marine Corps from 1948-52. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Watson Industries as a stock clerk. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and Disabled American Veterans. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed nature, hiking, and loved animals. He was an avid reader, woodworker and solitaire player. Surviving are four children, Ted W. (Sharon) Jones of North East, PA, Sheila M. (John) Fabian of Frewsburg, NY, Shellie L. Jones of Busti, Tim P. Jones of Jamestown, 12 grandchildren, Peter Jones, Beau Jones, Michael Jones, Matthew Jones, Sarah Ziolkowski, Rusty Stewart, John Fabian, Jill Mullen, Dustin Fabian, Heidi Fabian, Preston Jones, Dawson Jones,13 great grandchildren and a sister Susan (Roy) Patton of North East. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Pauline "Polly" Casey Jones, whom he married November 6, 1959, and who died March 6, 2017; a great grandson, Isiah Jones and siblings Josephine Clay, Lois Cravner and Preston and Vincent Jones. The funeral will be held at 11 am Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service Wednesday in the funeral home.
