Obituary of Kimberly Lynne Nelson
With such heavy hearts, we sadly announce that our dearest Kimberly Lynne Nelson, 58, of Lakewood, went home to be with our Lord and Savior.
She passed away peacefully June 12, 2022, surrounded by her family after a long battle with Ovarian Cancer. Kim had such a caring and loving soul that will be missed deeply.
She was born on August 8, 1963, to Albert and Shirley Shoemaker.
She was married to her high school sweetheart, James B. Nelson, Sr. for over 40 years and together for 47 years. Their best memories together were times spent in Myrtle Beach, SC and Florida relaxing on the beach in their lounge chairs, with their feet in the sand, holding each other's hands, touching the ocean water, and watching their three children at play. They spent every day together from the time they were 13 and 17 years old, creating beautiful memories together.
Kim had a vivacious personality with the most beautiful smile and the best laugh. Every where she went, she lit up the room. Everyone who knew her loved her. Kim was a dedicated and wonderful wife and mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She had the biggest heart and mothered all her nieces and nephews as well as her children's friends like they were her own. Kim was a mommy's girl. She loved her mom Shirley and her sister Melinda like no other. The three of them took many fun trips together and made memories that will be embraced forever.
Kim was a woman of faith. She attended Faith Outreach Center Church for eight years and served on the Board up until her cancer progressed. She became very close with Pastor Don and Sandy DeAngelo. Pastor Sandy and Kim were the best of friends/sisters up until her passing. Kim and her family also attended Busti Church of God where Pastor Roy Ferguson serves as a pastor. Pastor Roy has been a friend of the family ever since.
Kim is survived by her husband James B. Nelson Sr.; her mother Shirley Boehm and stepfather Donald Boehm; her father in-law Edwin Nelson Jr.; her sister Melinda (Jim) Riggleman; her three children Nichole (Dan) Potter, James "Jimmy" (Brandy) Nelson, Jr. and Alicia (David) Moore. Her beautiful and handsome grandchildren, Brayden and Aryella Potter, James Nelson III, and Serenity Moore. Along with her cousins and many nieces and nephews.
Kim is preceded by her father Albert Shoemaker; an infant brother; along with several aunts and uncles.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Ovarian Cancer Research at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, 665 Elm St., Buffalo, NY 14203
