Obituary of Forest Richard Boss
Forest Richard "Dick" Boss, 89, died Sunday June 19, 2022, in UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA.
An area resident all his life, he was born May 13, 1933, in Jamestown, a son of the late Harry and Dolly Drake Boss.
He was a 1951 graduate of Jamestown High School.
He was a Korean War veteran of the US Navy serving aboard the USS Tarawa.
Prior to his retirement he was a longtime employee of Weber Knapp where he held many jobs, the last being truck driver.
He was a member of the former First Baptist Church where he served as president, Viking Lodge and its Viking Male Chorus, Lakewood Rod and Gun Club and Ira Lou Spring Post American Legion. Dick was extremely patriotic and volunteered his time educating elementary students throughout Chautauqua County about the American flag and was a judge for the annual essay writing contest which awarded scholarships to students. In addition, he provided military honors at hundreds of funerals for deceased military veterans.
Surviving is a son Todd Boss of Warren, PA; granddaughter Danielle Boss of Angola and grandchildren Harper and Berkley Schauman.
Beside his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Beryl Johnson Boss, whom he married September 17, 1954, and who died January 1, 2016; a son Scott Boss; sister Helen Borkman and brother Corky Boss.
The funeral will be held at 2 pm Friday in the Lind Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
Friends will be received from noon to 2 pm Friday in the funeral home.
