Obituary of Harold V. Johnson
Harold V. "Junie" Johnson, Jr., 90, of Jamestown, NY, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022, in Mercy Hospital, Buffalo, NY.
A lifelong area resident, he was born May 6, 1932, in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late Harold V. and Signe Nelson Johnson, Sr.
He was a 1950 graduate of Jamestown High School and attended the University of Colorado and Clarkson University.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1950-1951.
Before his retirement, he was employed as a Jr. Civil Engineer for the City of Jamestown Department of Public Works for over 30 years.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Church where he managed and played on the church softball team for several years. As an avid sports enthusiast, he was a member of the Southwestern New York Chapter of the New York State Association of Certified Football Officials and was a big supporter of Jamestown High School athletics. He also enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden, watching birds and spending time appreciating mother nature and the outdoors.
Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Pauline F. Sholett Johnson whom he married February 16, 1957, five children: Steven (Rhonda) Johnson of Manhasset, NY, Gregory (Carolyn) Johnson of East Amherst, NY, Dr. Andrea Johnson of Jamestown, NY, Denise (Elias) Johnson of Camillus, NY, Nelson (Melissa) Johnson of Jamestown, NY, six grandchildren: Erik (Carrie) Johnson of Clarence, NY, Carson (Mayra) Elias of Philadelphia, PA, Dalton Elias, Victor Elias both of Camillus, NY, Nicholas Johnson of Ripley, ME, Nathan Johnson of Jamestown, NY, three great grandchildren: Luke, Rhett and Alice Jane Johnson, two sisters: Donna (Robert) Carlson of FL, Mary (William) Lawson of VA, and a brother: David (Joette) Johnson of CT.
The funeral will be held at 11 am Saturday, July 23, 2022, in the First Lutheran Church. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt will officiate. Burial will be in Veterans Grove at Lake View Cemetery. The service will also be livestreamed at www.lindfuneralhome.com homepage Facebook link. Prior visitation will not be observed.
