Obituary of Marie N. Johnson
Marie N. Johnson, 94, formerly of 24 Arden Pkwy., passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing.
She was the widow of Kenneth R. Johnson, whom she married September 24, 1949 and who died October 15, 1992.
A lifelong area resident, Marie was born in Jamestown on July 22, 1928, a daughter of the late Paul C. and Signe Nelson, and was a graduate of Falconer High School.
In earlier years employed by Art Metal and the Viking Lodge, she served as Director of Food Services at Jamestown Community College for over 20 years.
Marie loved playing cards with the Ladies Pinochle Club, Birthday Club and a bridge club, as well as bowling, especially with the Jones Tasty Baking Bowling League. In later years, she enjoyed scrapbooking for her grandchildren and their activities.
Surviving are two daughters, Diane L. Olson and Donna M. Hiller (George), and two sons, Douglas P. Johnson and David S. Johnson (Sue), all of Jamestown; four grandchildren: Rachel Frisbee (Adam) of Lakewood, Christopher Johnson (Leah) of Raleigh, NC, Alyssa Johnson (Lee) of Hamburg, NY and Ashley Hinman (Joe) of Jamestown; four great-grandchildren: Genevieve, Graeme and Grace Frisbee, and Carter Hinman; and a brother, Donald Nelson (Joe) of Palm Springs, CA.
Along with her husband, she was preceded by two brothers, Christian Nelson and John Nelson; and a sister, Louise McElroy.
Marie's family would like to thank all the staff at Heritage Park for their wonderful care.
The funeral will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9th in the Lind Funeral Home. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service, from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd., Jamestown, NY 14701.
