I am sadden by the news of David’s passing. I first met David while working at the time was First National Bank. David was a gentle giant in all he was involved in and accomplished. It was always a pleasure and we had great conversations when we would cross paths. I also had the pleasure of meeting his lovely wife Marty, the two of them were a very special couple.

My condolences to his loved ones. I have known David through his award-winning stamp exhibits as well as through the Boy Scouting program. His Waterbury cancels exhibit was one of the favorite exhibits I have seen which included the 'running chicken' and I had the pleasure of doing a few Boy Scout memorabilia exhibits at the store. I have seemed to run in to him frequently at Chautauqua when I have been able to come up and visit. He will be missed

Over the 40 years that I was a faculty member at Jamestown Community College, I and my colleagues in Arts and Humanities and hundreds of our students enjoyed David's largesse through his mother's fund, KJC. Humble to a fault, David epitomized generosity, shying away from expressions of our gratitude to him.
Later on, when I learned that the Kennedy Free Library, one of the libraries of CCLS, was struggling to find the resources to improve the aging building it occupied, I took a chance and called David for advice. Imagine my surprise that not only did he answer the phone, but he quickly assured me that he and his wife loved helping libraries, and when could they come for a visit?! A week later, I welcomed the two of them for a tour and a talk. True to his word, David provided much of the needed financial contribution for us to go forward with the construction of a new library building.
May David rest in peace. He will forever be in my heart.

"I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love." Leo Buscaglia
For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. Romans 14:8
