Obituary of James J. Marlinski
James J. Marlinski, 75, of Jamestown, NY, passed away at 4:35 pm Thursday, August 25, 2022, in the Westfield Memorial Hospital, Westfield, NY, following a valiant battle with a serious illness.
He was born November 17, 1946, in Buffalo, NY, a son of the late Richard R. and Eleanor B. Pawlak Marlinski.
Following high school he received his bachelor's degree from Siena College in Loudonville, NY, where he attended on a basketball scholarship.
Before his retirement he was a special education teacher for the North Falmouth School District in Falmouth, Massachusetts for several years. He also worked as a licensed real estate agent in the greater Buffalo area in Western, NY.
He was currently attending Hurlbut Memorial United Methodist Church in Chautauqua where he was a cantor singing with his wife Wendy who serves as organist. In previous years he and Wendy were musicians at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lakewood, NY.
James will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and brother who cherished his time with his family. He loved spending time taking care of his home, tending to his flower garden, and watching and feeding the birds. He was also an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills.
Surviving is his wife, Wendy Seastedt Marlinski, whom he married February 17, 2007, his children: Chantal (Rory) Cardinal of Jericho, VT, Christina (Jason Halderman) Donovan of Rochester, NY, Peter (Bekah) Donavan of Muskegon, MI, Andrew Laurita of Jamestown, seven grandchildren: Avery, Meran and Matilda Cardinal, Brohm, Eloise, Savayah, and Rohen Donovan, his siblings: Thomas (Barbara) Marlinski, Patrick (Dee) Marlinski all of Lakewood, NY, Donna (Eric) Miller of Raleigh, NC, Robert ( Mary Beth) Marlinski of Myrtle Beach, SC, Paul (Sue) Marlinski of Lakewood, NY, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 30, 2022, in the Hurlbut Memorial United Methodist Church, Chautauqua, NY. The Rev. Paul Womack, pastor will officiate. Prior visitation will not be observed.
The family suggests that memorials be made to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care, 20 West Fairmount Ave. Lakewood, NY 14750 or to the Hurlbut Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 33, Chautauqua NY 14722.
