Obituary of Ellen E. Skinner

Ellen E. Skinner, 87, of 661 South Main St. Ext., passed away Friday, September 9, 2022 in her home. She was born July 3, 1935 in Lander, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Cecil and Edith Carlson Reynolds, and attended Lander schools. Through the years, Ellen enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening, and also taught Sunday school classes for many years at the former Stillwater United Methodist Church. More recently she enjoyed attending the Healthy Bones classes at First Presbyterian Church in Jamestown. Surviving are three children: Ernest E. "Gene" Skinner of Erie, Pa., Richard E. (Natalia) Skinner of Vienna, VA, and Elizabeth "Liz" Hanson of Jamestown; daughter-in-law, Martha Skinner of Cassadaga and former daughter-in-law, Robin Miles; fifteen grandchildren: Jon, April, Jeanne, Melissa, Lance, Robert Jr., Justin, Trisha, Anastasia, Aaron, Annya, Greg, Robert Jr., Christopher, and Thomas; twelve great-grandchildren; and a brother, Melvin Reynolds of Bemus Point. Along with her parents, Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest O. Skinner whom she married September 4, 1953 and who died February 1, 2014; a son, Robert D. Skinner, Sr. in 2020; and two brothers, Ernest and Maurice Reynolds. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home Saturday.
