Obituary of Evelyn I. Peterson
Evelyn Ingrid Lawergren Peterson, 89, of the Woodlands Assisted Living, Erie, PA, formerly of Fluvanna-Townline Road and Myrtle Beach, SC, died Monday September 12, 2022, in Erie.
She was born September 2, 1933, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late John and Betty Anderson Martenson.
She and her late husband owned and operated the Shoreline Restaurant and the Village Coffee Shop in Bemus Point. Through high school she worked at the Prendergast Library and while raising her family she worked at Fanny Farmer Candy Store and later Maple Grove School System as a cafeteria cashier.
She was a member of Fluvanna Community Church, Eastern Star and Home Bureau. She enjoyed bowling and especially playing bingo. While living in Myrtle Beach she was a hospital volunteer.
Surviving are three children Debra Lawergren-Eccles of 24 Kneen Street, Ext., Shelton, CT, 06484, Craig (Donna) Lawergren of 9754 Mark Road, Erie, PA, 16509, and Randall Lawergren of Ashville; four grandchildren Jason (Leslie) Lawergren of Newport News, VA, Cheri (Fernando) Lawergren of Northport, FL, Trevor Eccles of Stratford, CT and Cameron Eccles of Shelton, CT; a great grandson Stephen Eccles of Shelton, CT and a stepdaughter Jill (Craig) Colburn of Bemus Point.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph "Sam" Peterson who died March 18, 1991, her companion of 18 years William Hood who died February 3, 2019 and a brother Archie Laverne Martenson who died March 21, 2007.
The funeral will be held at 2 pm Monday in the Lind Funeral Home where friends will be received from noon to 2 pm.
Burial will be in Fluvanna Cemetery.
