Obituary of Garland F. Dean
Garland F. "Frank" Dean, 72, of Jamestown, NY, passed away at 4:15 pm Thursday, September 15, 2022, in UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA.
A lifelong area resident, he was born December 28, 1949, in Niobe, NY, a son of the late Walter and Hilda Gray Dean.
Before his retirement he was employed by the Advance Auto Parts Store for 23 years and in previous years had worked for Gaymark Tire & Wheel for 22 years. He always enjoyed working on cars and being around the automotive business.
He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to various fairs. He had a keen interest in unidentified flying objects, aliens, and spirits. He always said he wanted to find "Big Foot".
Surviving is his wife Darlene M. Riel Dean, whom he married October 27, 2004, five children: Lorrie Dean (Ed Casey) Catalano of Jamestown, Shelly (Michele Timm) Dean of Eden, NY, Andrew (Crystal) Gibson of Frewsburg, NY, JoAnna (Jason) Foster of Jamestown, Cherrie (Paulino) Rodriguez of Jamestown, nine grandchildren: Angel, Cameron, Logan, Ethan, Landon, Lyanna, Leah, Corey and Tracey, a great grandson, Hector, and a brother, David (Bonnie) Dean of Jamestown. He also leaves behind his loveable fur babies Roxy and Bruno.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Wilford, Everall, Allen, and Donald Dean.
The funeral will be held at 5:00 pm Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor Charles Riel, his brother-in-law, will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Ashville, NY.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 7-9 pm Tuesday in the funeral home.
