Obituary of Jimmie W. Parson, Jr.
Jimmie W. Parson, Jr., 72, of Panama, NY, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022, in the St. Vincent Health Center, Erie, PA.
An area resident for most of his life, he was born July 21, 1950, Salt Lake City, Utah, a son of the late Jimmie W. and Alice May Bentley Parson.
Jimmie was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving from January 26, 1970 - January 28, 1972, during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge from active duty, he also served in the U.S. Army National Guard until January 25, 1976.
Before his retirement he was employed as a machinist by the Blackstone Corporation for 33 years. He was a member the Herman Kent Post 777, American Legion, Celoron, NY and enjoyed trap shooting, playing pool, and bowling.erman Kent Post 777, Ameican Legion
Surviving are his children; Terry (Amy) Parson of Randolph, NY, Lacey (Ryan Manning) Range of Panama, NY, four grandchildren: Jordan Parson of Randolph, NY, Peyton Range, Kylie Range, Kipp Manning all of Panama, NY, and a brother, Daniel (Nancy) Parson of Mentor, OH.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife the former Paula N. McCabe Parson whom he married July 12, 1969, and who died May 28, 202, a sister, Valerie Parson Anderson and his son-in-law, Brian Range.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Steven Taylor, pastor of the Panama United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service on Friday in the funeral home.
