Obituary of Diana T. Franco

Diana T. Franco, 81, of Dearing Avenue in Jamestown, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing. She was the widow of John D. Franco, whom she married October 24, 1964 and who died October 5, 1998. Diana was born in Dunkirk on November 26, 1940, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Mildred Dudek Taylor. Diana will always be remembered by her family and friends for her love of reading which began as a 12-year-old child. It brought her great joy to find new authors and titles and share them with everyone in her life. She loved talking about books with her book club and was often found visiting Carrie at Novel Destinations to have help locating just the right book. As a library paraprofessional for the Jamestown Public School System, she worked in the libraries of both Washington Junior and Jamestown Senior High schools. Diana was also known for her knitting. She made hundreds of afghans for her loved ones in just the right colors. Diana loved traveling and was fortunate to have taken many trips around the country with her close friends, especially JoAnn Walentynowicz. Both her dinner club and mahjong group held a very special place in her heart. She was a member of Holy Apostles Parish, Ss Peter & Paul Church. Surviving are four children: Kathleen "Katie" Russo (Matt) of Jamestown, Randy Franco (Sara) of New Port Richey, FL, Matt Franco (Leigh) of Fort Myers, FL, and John Franco (Pauline Kane) of Buffalo, NY; nine grandchildren: Benjamin Russo, Sarah Russo, Emma Franco, Ryan Franco, Tyler Franco, Kyle Franco, Madison Franco, Phoenix Jeffords and Max Diaz; her nieces whom she loved dearly; and a sister, Margaret Taylor of Dunkirk. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7th in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Fr. Paul Cygan will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750.
