Obituary of Richard C. Dash

Richard C. Dash, 77, of Thornton Rd. Gerry, NY, passed away at 3:45 pm Tuesday, November 8, 2022, in UPMC Chautauqua. An area resident for most of his life, he was born September 5, 1945, in Ellicottville, NY, a son of Robert K. Dash and Lucille Fern Gay. Before his retirement, he was a lathe operator for Master Carvers of Jamestown and in previous years had worked for the Jamestown Lounge Company. Richard was an active member of the Ellington Fire Department and will be remembered as one who loved woodworking, doing puzzles, listening to country music, and mowing lawns on his John Deere tractor. Surviving is his wife Elma M. Greenawalt Dash whom he married June 28, 1969, four children: Vicki (William) Troutman of Jamestown, NY, Brenda Jackson of Gerry, NY, Brian Tyler Dash of Machias, NY, William Dash of Gerry, NY, nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, a brother, Gordon (Barb) Dash and two sisters, Joyce Pastorius and Mary Jane Dash all of Franklinville, NY. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Leo and Kenneth Dash and a sister, Vera Martin. The funeral will be held at 2 pm Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Prior visitation will not be observed. Memorials may be made to the Ellington Volunteer Fire Department, 769 West Main St. Ellington, NY 14732.
