Obituary of Kathleen M. Smith

Kathleen M. Smith, 78, of 560 Fairmount Ave., Jamestown, formerly 30 Hyde Park, Panama, passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 27, 2022 at UPMC Chautauqua. She was born in Ashville, NY on May 5, 1944, a daughter of the late Walter and Florence Willets LeRoy, and was a graduate of Panama Central School. For many years, Kathleen was a member of Watts Flats United Methodist Church and more recently, Panama United Methodist Church. She enjoyed many groups and activities during her 17 years at Tanglewood, attending the Harmony Senior Citizen Center, and was a fan of NASCAR, the Bills and the Yankees. In earlier years she also enjoyed bowling. Surviving is her son, Ken (Becky) Smith of Randolph and daughter, Karen (Dan) Hagenow of LaPorte, IN; six grandchildren: Kristen (Dylan) Caldwell of Stockton, NY, Kelsey (Jake) McDaneld of Jamestown, Elijah Hagenow of LaPorte, IN, Ian (Kelsie) Hagenow of Muncie, IN, Jared Hagenow of Indianapolis, IN, and Logan Hagenow of LaPorte, IN; two great grandchildren, Charlee and Crew Caldwell of Stockton, NY; and her brother, Roger (Dorothea) LeRoy of Blairsville, GA; as well as many much loved nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Roger Crandall. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Steven Taylor, pastor of Panama United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Ashville's Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. for two hours prior to the service in the funeral home Saturday. Memorials may be made to Panama United Methodist Church, 22 E. Main St., Panama, NY 14767.
