Obituary of Ilona M. Turnbull
Ilona M. Turnbull, of 140 Aldren Avenue, formerly of 133 Valley View Avenue and 59 Alleghany Avenue, West Ellicott, died Tuesday November 29, 2022, in her home.
Born in Hornell, NY, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Martha Gallese Argentieri.
She was a graduate of St. Ann's School and Hornell High School and attended Alfred University for two years. She was married on August 16, 1958, to Lew Turnbull and resided in Jamestown for 64 years.
Before coming to Jamestown, she was buyer for the children's department at Wineburg and Gleason, worked for McBride's Boutique and at Ruth Solen's millinery shop in Hornell, where she met her husband who was the love of her life. She also was a great artist that enjoyed painting throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lew Turnbull, eight sisters, three brothers and many nieces and nephews.
Surviving are son David, a lawyer in Family Court in Mayville and his wife Laura, a social worker at JCC and granddaughter Mia whom she loved dearly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lakewood.
Visitation will not be observed.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 380 E. Fairmount Avenue, Lakewood, NY 14750.
