Obituary of Dorothy E. Barton
Dorothy Ellen Barton, 84, passed away Tuesday evening, November 29, 2022 at Heritage Village Rehab & Skilled Nursing.
She was born October 2, 1938 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late William and Pearl Myers Blair, and was a 1957 graduate of LaSalle High School.
Her early years were spent as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker.
She married her husband, Allen Barton on May 8, 1976 and he preceded her in death on October 8, 1990. Being married to Al allowed her to become immersed in the local Draft Horse community where they made many, many friends. She thoroughly enjoyed attending all the county fairs and helping her husband show his beloved ponies and Belgians.
Dorothy was a loving caregiver to her grandchildren while they were growing up. Her bond with them was immeasurable and they will miss her immensely.
In later years Dorothy became a personal care aide for CareGivers where she spent many years as a much requested and loved aide until her retirement. She was in her element taking care of everyone.
Along with her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Donald E. Blair in March of 2000.
Surviving is a daughter, Lori (Jeff) Radack of Lakewood, son, Charles (Lori) Holder of Bemus Point, and daughter, Jill Barton of Panama; granddaughters: Lindsay (Mike) Eckman of Frewsburg, Haley (Jake) Swan of Lakewood, and Erin Radack of Lakewood; grandsons: Justin Holder of Vail, CO, Kyle Radack of Johnstown, CO, and Brian Westerdahl of Panama; and two great-grandchildren, Kendall and Austin Eckman of Frewsburg.
Dorothy's beautiful blue eyes and unwavering love and support of her family will be greatly missed, as will her ability to find humor in life and laugh at her own silly antics. She left our family years ago as dementia slowly took her away, but we carry so many wonderful memories of our time together.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home. A private family graveside service will be held in the Busti Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc. of WNY, 6215 Sheridan Dr., Suite 100, Amherst, NY 14221-4837.
