Obituary of Edward J. Turpin

Edward J. Turpin, 78 of Lakewood, NY, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2022 at the Chautauqua Nursing & Rehab Center in Dunkirk. He was born May 8, 1944 in Manhattan, the son of the late Eugene and Mildred Als Turpin, and was a graduate of William Cullen Bryant High School in Queens, NY. Ed began his fleet service employment with Allegheny Airlines in 1970 at LaGuardia Airport. He continued his career with USAirways working in Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Phoenix and Orlando from where he retired in 2007. Ed was a passionate sports enthusiast and a lifelong fan of the NY Giants as well as the San Francisco Giants and continued to play baseball well into his sixties. Edward is survived by his beloved partner, Deborah A. Turpin; four children: Jeffery Turpin (Tabatha) of Amherst, NY, Kiera L. Gerber (Scott) of Rochester, NY, Kyle R. Turpin (Aubree) of New Braunfels, TX, and Ashley E. Zambotti (Brian) of Lakewood, NY; and was lovingly referred to as "Papa Ed" by his twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
