Obituary of Sharon G. Andino

Sharon Troxell Andino, 78, of Greenhurst, NY, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022 at UPMC Chautauqua. She was born in Wilmington, DE on August 1, 1944, one of eight children of the late Irvin Joseph and Lois A. Robinson Troxell, and was a 1964 graduate of Eisenhower High School in Russell, Pa. She was a member of Holy Apostles Parish. Despite her disabilities and life's challenges, Sharon kept a positive attitude and was able to find joy in the simple things of life. She had a strong faith in Christ and everlasting life. She was known to say, "The body dies, but the soul lives forever." Sharon enjoyed classical music and also had a profound love for books, especially the novels of her favorite author, Betty Smith. When she could no longer read the small font, her family searched for larger and larger print to keep her going. When she could no longer turn the pages, her brother David would often read aloud to her as she had done for him in their youth. Her passion for stories went far beyond books. Deeply interested in the lives of others, she had a prodigious memory for names and was able to recall events long past with stunning clarity. Anyone who visited with her knew she would ask after their loved ones, delight in their good times, and pray for their bad. When she was still able to walk, Sharon would often walk to the church to light a candle and pray for an expectant family and their unborn baby. She adored her family on Earth and those waiting for her in Heaven. Surviving are her six siblings: Joseph (Barbara) Troxell of Sugar Grove, Pa., David (Marissa) Troxell of Jamestown and Thailand, Daniel Troxell of California, Timothy (Susan) Troxell of Washington, Mary (Randy) Ames of Kentucky, and Robin (Tom) Swanson of Sugar Grove; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Candido J. Andino whom she married May 5, 1977 and who died August 26, 2017; and in 2019 by her sister, Priscilla VanTassel. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Todd Remick will officiate. Burial will be in Busti Cemetery. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home Saturday.
