Obituary of Jo-El E. Thompson-Kroon

Jo-El E. Thompson-Kroon, 56, of Ashville, NY and Surfside Beach, SC, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023 at her home in Ashville. She was born in Jamestown November 16, 1966 and was the daughter of Karen L. Thompson and the late John L. Thompson, Sr. A 1984 graduate of Jamestown High School, Jo-El then graduated from Jamestown Community College, SUNY Fredonia and received her PhD in Counseling Psychology from Gannon University. She spent most of her career teaching and guiding developmentally disabled and autistic individuals and most recently served as a psychology instructor at Erie Community College. Jo-El was a member of the American Psychological Association, Autism Speaks, the Mt. Sinai-Mecca Order of the Eastern Star, and American Legion Auxiliary. She loved everything about being on and near Chautauqua Lake and the Beach. Along with her mother of Jamestown, surviving is her husband, Robert A. Kroon, Jr.; sister, Kelly Eimers (Chuck) of Hummer Lake, MI; brothers, Lawrence F. Thompson of Lexington, KY and John L. Thompson, Jr. (Jennifer) of Jamestown; many nieces and nephews; and her fur babies, her dogs Kayla and Sully. She was preceded in death by her father, John in 1989 and her stepson, Bryan Kroon in 2017. Jo-El's family wishes to thank all the caring people of Hospice, as well as her sister-in-law, Sally Kroon who took time off from her life to lovingly care for Jo-El these past weeks.
