Obituary of Helena C. Damond

Helena C. Damond, 89, of 18 Wildwood Avenue, died Sunday January 15, 2023, in UPMC Chautauqua. A Jamestown native, she was born June 2, 1933, a daughter of the late Dominic and Antonina Sapienza Crasti. She was a 1951 graduate of Jamestown High School and had been employed by Jamestown Mutual Insurance Company. She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. For many years she enjoyed bowling, was an amazing cook, loved fashion, and enjoyed going to the casino. She was also a huge fan of the New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills and watched every game. Surviving is her husband John Damond, whom she married June 16, 1956; two daughters Rose Mary Damond and Anne (Steve) Sischo, both of Jamestown and two sisters Rita Ellis of Cleveland, OH and Linda (Clifford) Graham of Florida. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by siblings Angeline Marino, Frances Young, Anne Messina and Anthony, Josephine, Mary and Frank Crasti. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Thursday in St. James Catholic Church. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
