Obituary of George A. Oste
George A. Oste, 93, of 124 Aldren Ave., formerly of 21 Willow Ave., died Tuesday morning, Jan. 31, 2023 at the Lutheran Home & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Feb. 8, 1929 in Falconer, NY, a son of the late Paul and Hazel Crandall Oste, and was a 1947 graduate of Bemus Point High School.
George was employed for 40 years by Alltel Communications in Jamestown, retiring as Plant Supervisor.
He was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for many years. George also belonged to the Mt. Moriah Lodge 145 F & AM where he received a 'Dedicated Service Award' and the Jamestown Consistory, receiving the 'Meritorious Award' and was a past Sovereign Prince of the Princes of Jerusalem.
Surviving is his son, Matthew G. (Stacie) Oste of Concord, NC, and several nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Erickson Oste whom he married Oct. 1, 1955 and who died April 5, 2022; and a brother, James A. Oste.
A private family graveside service will be held. Visitation will not be observed.
