Obituary of Joanne M. DeSantis

Joanne M. DeSantis, 84, formerly of West Palm Beach, FL, passed away at 12:50 pm Wednesday, February 1, 2023, in the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born November 20, 1938, in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Armeli Foti. She had been a resident of Jamestown for several years and was a 1956 graduate of Jamestown High School. In her earlier years, while still residing in Jamestown, she was employed as a cosmetologist for several years and later was employed at AMSCO of Jamestown. She relocated to Erie, PA in 1980 where she was employed with Alco Industries for several years. From 1993 until her retirement, she resided in West Palm Beach, FL and was employed with Sportstrendinfo as a database specialist. She will be remembered as one who routinely exercised at the gym and loved bowling, golfing with her husband and playing ping pong. Surviving are two daughters, Dr. Susan (Paul Orsenigo) Christiansen of West Palm Beach, FL, Sheryle (John) O'Neill of Jamestown, NY and four grandchildren, Mark (Kelsey) O'Neill of Jamestown, NY, Adam (Sara Cooper) O'Neill of Syracuse, NY, Max Christiansen of Miami, FL, Kelly (Hayden) Christiansen Franklin of Houston, TX. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James DeSantis whom she married July 14, 2006, and who died May 25, 2021, and her siblings, Sally Manera, Mary Pinzone, Anthony Foti, Sebastian (Buster) Foti, Samuel Foti, Grace Liuzzo, Bessie Shreave, Angie McClure, Josephine LoPresto, Adeline (Addie) Johnson, and Virginia Wiser. The funeral will be held at 3 pm Sunday, February 5, 2023, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Cygan, parochial vicar of St. James Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Sunday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, American Heart Association, Alzheimer's Association of Western New York or to the American Cancer Society.
