Obituary of Edda G. Liuzzo

Edda G. Liuzzo, 84, of Jamestown, NY, passed away at 9:10 am Tuesday, February 21, 2023, in her home surrounded by her family. A Jamestown resident since 1961, She was born March 24, 1938 in Tortorici Sicily, Italy, a daughter of the late Anthony and Maria Contigula Galbato. She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, and nana who loved to have the family together for Sunday dinner. She was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed spending time gardening and taking care of her flowers. She was also an accomplished seamstress. Surviving is her loving husband of 65 years, Salvatore Liuzzo, Sr. whom she married February 1, 1958, a daughter, Mary (Bill Massa) Liuzzo Watson, a son, Salvatore "Sam" (Stephanie Samuelson) Liuzzo, Jr, both of Jamestown, NY, six grandchildren, Rick (Alison) Hammond, Christopher (Courtney) Hammond, Chelsea (Marcus Hert) Watson, Kyle Liuzzo, Mitchell Liuzzo all of Jamestown, Michael (Olivia) Watson of Soddy-Daisy, TN, six great grandchildren, Riley Anderson, Rocco, Sylvia, Adrian, and Emory Hammond, and Sophia Hert, and her sister, Maria Parasiliti of Torino, Italy. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sally L. Hammond who died November 9, 2007, five brothers and two sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Paul Cygan will be celebrant. Entombment will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-7 pm Friday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 6:45 pm Friday.
