Obituary of Diane M. Ploetz

Diane Madeline Ploetz, 76, of Jamestown, NY, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023, at UPMC Chautauqua surrounded by loved ones. A Jamestown native, she was born July 3, 1946 and was the daughter of the late David and Madeline Dunberg. She is survived by her sister Barbara Stubbs of Woodbridge, VA; her husband of 31 years, Jack Hallett; her three children: Wendy (Daniel) Byerly of Chester, VA, William (Laura) Ploetz, Jr., of Jamestown, NY, and Debra (Michael) Craumer of Clover, SC; seven grandchildren: Alexander (Kelsey Melvin) Hanson, Melissa Smith, Marissa (Zachary) King, Cierra (Tristan Leonard) Craumer, William D. Ploetz, Hallie (Dalton Eddington) Craumer, and Sydney (Landon Guilliams) Byerly; and three great-grandchildren: Amiyah Smith, Erilyn Hanson, and Kaiden Craumer. Diane graduated from Jamestown High School in 1964 and Jamestown Business College in 1990, and was a retiree of Alltel NY. She was a member of the Moose Club #1681, Vikings Ingjald Lodge, and Thule Lodge #127. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William H. Ploetz, Sr., whom she married July 5, 1969 and who died August 17, 1987. The funeral service will be held at 1 PM Monday, Feb. 27th in the Lind Funeral Home and will be livestreamed on the funeral home's website, www.lindfuneralhome.com. Pastor Tara Lamont Eastman will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 11 AM to 1 PM for two hours prior to the service in the funeral home Monday. The family would like to thank Willcare and the Comfort Care Team of Unit 4D at UPMC (especially Erin) for taking care of Diane during her final days.
