Obituary of Gordon Pangborn

Gordon D. Pangborn Sr., 59, of 32 Linden Avenue, died Tuesday March 14, 2023, in UPMC Hamot. He was born July 26, 1963, in Jamestown, the son of the late Francis B. and Barbara Derby Pangborn. Following high school, he served in the Navy for a brief time. Gordon was a loving and caring father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with family, cheering on the Buffalo Bills, going to the grandkids sporting events, big Dale Earnhardt fan and his love for fishing. He was very proud to be a great-grandfather and adored all of them. Before his retirement he was a paper carrier for the Post Journal. Surviving is his longtime partner of 40 years, Susan Shafer of Jamestown; his five children: Ashley (Jonathan) Jones, Gordon "Buddie" (Brittney) Pangborn Jr., Justina Rivera, Dylan Shafer, Joshua Pangborn; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; his siblings: Shane Pangborn, Debra (Robert) Hunt, Kimberly Pangborn, Darrin Pangborn, Marjorie "Marcy" Kitchell , Ronald Kitchell , Victoria Tracy, Julie (Williams) Warsham and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson Garth W. N. Shafer. The funeral will be held at 3 pm Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home where friends will be received for one hour prior to the service.
