Uncle Al was the definition of a fun Uncle. He made every family excursion enjoyable, played cards with us during the holidays, and even let us eat all his blueberries when we visited from MN. Well, maybe not “let” but he had great blueberries. His infectious joy was tangible, and spread, with everyone he came in contact with. His love and kindness will never be forgotten. — Luine, John, Eric, Liz, Owen, Crosby, Jay, Patty, and Luna Runquist

My Sincere Sympathy to Pastor Alan's Family He was a wonderful Part Time Pastor for Bethel and also served at my husband's funeral. My fondest memory was at a Sat. night service Pastor asked for a volunteer to help serve communion. My son who has a learning disability volunteered and Pastor Alan called him up. I held my breath not knowing how how he would do but he did it perfectly and continued to serve until we no longer had a Sat service. Thank you Pastor Anderson and I know you will be Blessed when you arrive in Heaven.

My condolences to your family. I was saddened to hear of Alan's death. I had such respect and appreciation for him. As a seminarian and then as a new pastor, Alan always showed me respect as an equal and treated me as a colleague and friend. I'm so grateful for the spirit of welcome that came as second nature to him. Hans and I will be holding you all in prayer. God be close in your grief. Amy Walter-Peterson

Dearest Suellen and family, it is with great sadness that I learned of Allan's passing. He was such a wonderful person, pastor and friend. I remember him well from the Thule Swedish Dance Team, of which I was a member, and I learned much from him as I watched him perform the dance steps. While he will be surely missed here among us, we all know he is in a place so much more grand and beautiful than we can imagine. And I'm sure he is teaching the angels to dance :) God bless you, Alan, and peace to you, Suellen and family.

To Alan's beloved family: I have just learned about Alan's death. Please accept my condolences. I was blessed to be one of Alan's professors at Trinity Lutheran Seminary. I recall him as a fine student, certainly, but especially as a quiet, calm, reflective person whose insights and questions were valued by all--especially me! Please be assured of my prayers during the upcoming days and months.

We were so sad to hear of Alan's passing. We knew him through Thule folk dancing where he was the BEST dancer and the kindest teacher! We miss his sweet smile no matter how good or bad we danced! Our prayers are with Suellen and the whole family.

Pastor Alan was one of the greatest clergy I have ever known. He understood all people and tried his best to be there for people. May God give peace and comfort to the family during this difficult time. RIP.

I would like to extend my sympathies to you and your family. Pastor Alan was such a warm and loving person. He was a wonderful friend, neighbor and pastor. I remember visiting with him many times as he walked Cocoa and Marley past my house.
