Obituary of Anthony "J"ames Foti

Anthony J. Foti, 73, of 680 Fulton Street, Buffalo, formerly of Jamestown, died at 7:50 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 17, 1992) in Buffalo Veterans Administration Hospital. A Buffalo resident the past 14 years, he was born May 7, 1919, in Jamestown, a son of Ross C. "Ceri" and Bessie Calanni Foti. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Chautauqua Hardware and formerly at Art metal, Inc. Foti was a graduate of Jamestown High School and served in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II. While in Jamestown, he was a communicant of St. James R.C. Church and attended St. Jude's Father's Church, Buffalo. In Jamestown, he had been past commander of the John W. Tiffany Post 53, VGW, a member of the Knights of Columbus, of which he was past grand knight, a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and was past president of the Jamestown Bowling Association. Surviving are three daughters, Jude Dewhurst of Allentown, Pa.; Cheryl Foti of San Antonio, Texas, and Debra Yahn of Jamestown; a son, Ross Foti of San Francisco; three grandchildren, Steven and Kristen Yahn, both of Jamestown, and Alison Dewhurst of Allentown; two sisters, Josephine Bonfiglio of Jamestown; and Rose Paganelli of Grove City, Pa.; and his father, of Jamestown. He was preceded in death by his mother; and a daughter, Toni Lynn Foti. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday in St. James R.C. Church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home, where vigil prayers will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Holy Cross Cemetery. The family suggests memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
