Obituary of LeRoy F. Tubbs Sr.

LeRoy "Bud" F. Tubbs, Sr., 80, of Jamestown, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Buffalo General Hospital. He was born July 22, 1942 in Niagara Falls, New York, the son of the late Wesley and Esther Lowell Tubbs, and graduated from Falconer High School in 1960. LeRoy worked for 37 years for the New York State Region 5 Department of Transportation and retired as a Civil Engineer. He was an avid traveler, visiting Las Vegas and Florida several times throughout his life. His greatest memories were of Las Vegas, and he would often share those stories with anyone that would sit and talk with him. He was very proud of helping to build two houses (his own and his parents') – he was great at concrete block laying, construction/carpentry work. He enjoyed gardening inside and out (he was very proud of his tomato and pineapple plants), golfing, fishing, classic country music, attending music concerts, loved his Dodge Ram truck aka Big Red, and loved to do "creative" cooking. He enjoyed playing games and assembling jigsaw puzzles on the computer. He was an avid sports fan and played various sports himself growing up (baseball, and track). He loved to keep up on the latest events and happenings with his family and friends on Facebook – he was very proud of his family's accomplishments. LeRoy is survived by his four children, Theresa Butts (Ken), LeRoy F. Tubbs, Jr. of Jamestown, NY, Elizabeth Liddell of Mayville, NY, and Patrick Tubbs of Buffalo, NY. Nine grandchildren: Scott, Lindsey, Philip, Cory, Melissa, Kodey, Teresa, Victor and Corrine; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Lawrence Tubbs of Alabama, and a sister, Margarete Downey of Jamestown; a niece and three nephews; close friends Patti Culliton, Mark Parsons, Sherry Johnson, Joe Camarata, Christopher Puchalski, and Joe Erbacher. LeRoy was a very loving father, strong, but gentle man that was always willing to listen and be supportive to whomever he talked to. His key phrases were "the sun is always shining somewhere" and to "let it go". He was preceded in death by his nephew, Eric Downey and many close friends and co-workers. A private family graveside service will be held at the Webster Cemetery in Fredonia, NY. Visitation will not be observed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Second Chances Thrift Store or The Wounded Warrior Project.
