Obituary of Ronald L. Tedquist

Ronald L. Tedquist, 87, of Bemus Point, passed away on May 9, 2023, at Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing. He was born on April 21, 1936, in Jamestown to Leonard and Hildur Signell Tedquist. Ronald graduated from Jamestown High School in 1954 and served in the US Army from August 1955 until August 1958. He worked as an accountant for Ingersoll Rand/Proto Tool and Office Manager for Hartley Buick before retiring in 2000. Ronald enjoyed outdoor activities, such as biking around Chautauqua Lake in the summer and cross-country skiing locally in the winter. He was involved in coaching his children's Little League and Babe Ruth baseball teams, and he pitched for the Fluvanna Fire Dept softball team prior to his retirement. In his retirement, Ronald enjoyed golf and traveling to Florida as well as to visit his children and grandchildren out-of-state. He was also a longtime member of the Vikings, War Vets, Thule Lodge and Fluvanna Fire Dept. Ronald is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Jamestown; two sons, Mark Tedquist of St. Louis, MO and Bradley (Sherri) Tedquist of Penrose, CO; daughter, Julie (Bernie) McCabe of Narberth, PA; and step-daughter, Julie (William) Kiendl of Bemus Point, NY. He is also survived by four grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and six step-great-grandchildren, along with his sister, MaryAnn Lindquist of Lakewood and his brother, Steven Tedquist of Jamestown. Besides his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Boswell Tedquist and his sister, Nancy Carlson. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home with the Rev. Adam Rohler, pastor of First Covenant Church, officiating. Ronald will be laid to rest in Busti Cemetery. Friends and family may visit for two hours before the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Fluvanna Volunteer Fire Department or James Prendergast Library. Ronald will be deeply missed by his loved ones and friends.
