Obituary of Richard A. Calla

Richard A. Calla, 75, of 26 Walnut Street in Jamestown, passed away Sunday June 18, 2023, in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing, with his family by his side. He was born August 24, 1947, in St. Mary's, PA, the son of the late Bruno and Delores Ferronti Calla. He was a 1965 graduate of Warren Area High School and later graduated from Jamestown Business College and Dyke College, Cleveland, OH. He served in the National Guard for many years as a company clerk. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Jamestown Housing Authority as housing inspector and case manager. From 1977-2004 he worked for Chautauqua Opportunities as a housing specialist. He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and was a member of Lakewood Rod and Gun Club and Allen Park Men's Club. He played in various softball leagues over the years. He enjoyed fishing and boating on Chautauqua Lake, traveling to North Carolina and Florida and spending time at the casino in Salamanca. Surviving are his wife Roseanne Messina Calla, whom he married September 26, 1975; a daughter Ashley (Matt) Bowman of Lakewood; twin grandsons Brock and Luke Bowman whom he loved very much and two nieces Tracy VanSteen and Amy Forbes and their families all of North Carolina. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Linda Voigt and an uncle Sonny Ferronti. The funeral will be held at noon Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home, where friends will be received from 10 am to noon Saturday. Inurnment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
