Obituary of Diana Evan
Diana M. Evan, 90, of Frewsburg, passed away Wednesday June 21, 2023, in her home with her family by her side.
A Jamestown resident since 1965, she was born May 2, 1933, in Sheffield, Pa, the daughter of the late Howard and Rose Clever Kipp.
Prior to retirement she and her late husband owned and operated Evan's Skateland from 1963-1976 in Celeron and 1979-2009 in Jamestown; they also owned Evan's Skateland West in Erie, PA and Evan's Roller Drome in Bradford PA with family members. Diana spent her many years working with the skaters and friends she made throughout the years. She was known as everyone's Mom-Mom.
Diana loved her family more than anything. Her grandchildren brought her much joy and she loved watching them grow up skating together at the rink. She donated and supported the Special Olympics skating program for over 45 years. She also had a passion for all sports but most importantly the Buffalo Bills.
Surviving is her three daughters: Deborah (Neil) Eddy of Jamestown, Michelle (Paul) Whippo of Frewsburg, Melissa (Brad) Long of Frewsburg, her son John "Jack" (Cheryl) Evan of Jamestown; 14 Grandchildren: A.J. Nichols, Chad Eddy, Evan (Jenna) Eddy, Levi (Sami) Whippo, Shantelle (Andy) Swanson, Cody (Ashley) Whippo, Zack (Lauren) Whippo, Tyler (Jessica) Long, Nicholas (Laural) Long, Jennifer (Ben) Karlson, John (Jessica) Evan IV, Josh Evan, Jake Evan, Jesse (Anna) Evan, two Step-grandchildren: Sarah (Jeff) Uebelhoer, Nicole (Erik) Kane, 35 great grandchildren: Kynzie & Justin Nichols, Joslyn, Natalie, C.J., Madi, Ryan, Kayla, Jace, & Jayda Eddy, Hannah, Halle & Haven Karlson, Taylor, Jacqueline, Riley, John V, Badger, Sophie, & Logan Evan, Sadie, Sawyer, & Monroe Long, Blake, Grant, & Shane Swanson, Alina, Troy, Reese, Wyatt, & Alyssa Whippo, Emma, & Libby Kane, Parker, and Colton Uebelhoer; two sisters Wanda McClellan of Sheffield, PA & Lana Cunningham of Russell, PA and a Brother Howard Kipp of Hot Springs, VA.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John Evan Jr., whom she married January 20, 1950, and who died November 4, 2006.
Her family will receive friends on Sunday, June 25 from 12 to 4 at the Lind Funeral Home.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Special Olympics, 2821 Wehrle Drive, Suite 7, Williamsville, NY 14221.
