Obituary of Lauretta Cook

Lauretta Cook passed away peacefully on Sunday June 25, 2023, in the Lutheran Home. She was born October 11, 1925, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Irene Barker Stein. She always said that her life did not begin properly, however, until she met the love of her life and husband of 40 years William Richard Cook. Lauretta enjoyed crafting, birdwatching, and could almost always be found with a beloved dog by her side. Lauretta and Dick loved camping and traveling and took to the road full time upon retiring, visiting nearly every part of the United States. Lauretta will be sadly missed by her four children to whom she was a wonderful mother Cheryl (Mike) Sandberg, Richard (Tammy) Samuelson, Jeff (Cheryl) Cook and Dan Cook; seven grandchildren Matt (Meghan) Sandberg, Chris (Abbey) Sandberg, Tara (Scott) Strong, Jason Cook, Tamra Cook, Annika Samuelson and Aaron (Nashaly) Samuelson and six great grandchildren Finn and Wes Sandberg, Bailey and Casey Strong, Aiden and Trenton Cook. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband whom she married in 1955 and who died in 1995; a grandson Adam Cook; a brother and four sisters.
