Obituary of Jose R. Gattorno

Jose R. Gattorno, 88, of Jamestown, NY passed away at home on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 with his family by his side following an extended illness. He was born October 12, 1934 in Santa Clara, Cuba, the son of the late Jose M. and Luisa Gattorno. Jose came to the United States in January 1971, residing in New Jersey for 10 years before moving to Jamestown. He was employed at the former Blackstone Corporation in Jamestown, working in the maintenance department, and was later self-employed until his retirement. Jose was baptized in 1971 as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and enjoyed helping others learn about the Bible. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and having farm animals. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Yolanda Gattorno whom he married Sept. 2, 1959; a daughter, Lucia (Carl) Conti; a son, Rafael (Dianne) Gattorno; five grandchildren: Mark (Karina) Conti, Mandy (Justin) Wood, Gabrielle Hurton, Candace (Skyler) King, and Austin (Morgan) Conti; as well as six great-grandchildren: Adrianna, Bailey, Sophia, Breanna, Nathan and Jeremiah. Jose was preceded in death by a sister, Maria Gattorno of Cape Coral, Fla. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 1st in the Lind Funeral Home, led by Elder Howard Nelson. Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
