Obituary of Edith June Odell

Edith June Odell, 50, of Panama, passed away unexpectedly in her home Friday July 7, 2023, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born September 27, 1972, in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of Stewart and Joan Button Hoyt. Edith worked for Panama Central Schools as a cleaner but most notably she worked on the family farm with her husband where she had passion for agriculture. She found joy being outdoors, hunting, horseback riding or tending to all her animals such as her beef cows and goats. Edith was a very sociable person who loved spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren. Surviving is her husband Steve Odell whom she married on February 18, 2021; her daughter Rachel (Curt Schnars); two sons Mark Ecklund and Derek Ecklund; two stepdaughters Natalie (Elian) Olivares and Lillian Odell; her four grandchildren Ava, Carter, Cory, and Lexi Schnars; her siblings Dicky Hoyt, Laurie Short, Elizabeth Haller, Raymond Hoyt, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Stewart Hoyt and a daughter Allison Ecklund. The funeral will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home where friends will be received for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Panama Union Cemetery.
