Obituary of James R. Coan

James R. Coan, 86, of 970 Wellman Road, died unexpectedly Wednesday July 12, 2023, in his home. He was born May 24, 1937, in Jamestown, a son of the late Kenneth and Maude McKoon Coan. Prior to his retirement in 1979, he was employed by Red Star Transportation as a truck driver. He had worked for MRC as a machinist for 10 years and Hopes Windows for 4 years. He was a member of Busti Men's Club, LLAMA Club, Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association, AMVETS in Sugar Grove and the Teamster's Union for 30 years. He enjoyed Hunting, fishing, camping, and being outdoors. Surviving is a son Timothy Coan of Jamestown; two granddaughters Brandy Anzalone of South Carolina and Angela (William) Montague of St. Petersburg, FL and a brother Gene Coan of Jamestown, and his companion of over 40 years Shelly Deponceau and her sons Mark, Christopher and Dominic Deponceau. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son Randi Coan; two sisters Patty Bennett and Nancy Lee and a brother Harold Coan. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
