Obituary of Robert E. Charles

Robert E. Charles, 88, of 69 Allen Street, died Monday July 17, 2023, in Brooks Memorial Hospital. He was born July 29, 1934, in Chautauqua, NY, a son of Oscar and Eva Baker Charles. He served in the US Army from 1957-59. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Twin Auto as a mechanic. He enjoyed working on cars and helping people, but more than anything he loved spending time with his family including his numerous nieces and nephews. Surviving is three daughters Janet McFaul of Millington, TN, Janine (Chuck) Weber of Frewsburg and Jill (Gregg) Rough of Jamestown; seven grandchildren Robert McFaul, Michelle McFaul, Alan (Shelly) Brady, II, Ashleigh (Michael) Calimeri, Amelia Rough, Alyssa (Tyler) Settelmaier, and Annalise Rough, ten great grandchildren Katelyn (Andrew) Allen, Jaydon Work, Mikayla Brady, Ava Rough, Jackson Brady, Peyton Brady, Skylar McFaul, London McFaul, Gabriel Lyles and Reese Settelmaier; a great great granddaughter Alivia Sweet; a brother Roger (Bonnie) Charles and three sisters Clydell Barlett, Donna Olsen and Carolyn Barlett. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Julieanne Goranson Charles, whom he married October 8, 1958, and who died October 25, 2011; a granddaughter Jennifer Brady Lucas; a sister Carol Fisher and a son in law Kevin McFaul. Friends will be received from 1-4 pm Sunday at the family home 69 Allen Street, Jamestown. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
