Obituary of Jemima A. Stutzman

Jemima A. Stutzman, 84, of Jamestown, died Friday July 21, 2023, in Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing. She was born April 5, 1939, in Navarre, Ohio, a daughter of the late Atlee J. and Susie Wengard Byler. A stay-at-home mother, she loved doing crafts such as crocheting, sewing, and making quilts. Jemima would regularly volunteer at church for the Dorcas-Ladies Aid group, the YMCA, the Senior Citizen Center, the adult day care and St. Susan's Soup Kitchen for over 20 years. She spent the first part of her life with the Old Order Amish and the Last 51 years she was a devoted member of the Jamestown Seventh Day Adventist Church. Surviving is her daughter Catherine (Dennis) Knowlton of Jamestown, NY and her son Daniel J. Stutzman of Galesburg, MI; two granddaughters Danielle Stutzman of Partage, MI and Miranda (Nick) Presley of Mattawan, MI; an adopted granddaughter Crystal Dingman of Jamestown and her two daughters and two grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren Beth Ann Knowlton of Frewsburg, NY, John Knowlton of Randolph, NY, Amy (O'Shane) Timoll of Rochester, NY, William (Cassie) Sorenson, Maggie Sorenson, Jaide Spencer, Mea Wolf, John Morris, Cassandra Coram, Christopher Nance; great granddaughter Josephine Presley; 12 step great grandchildren O'Shane Timoll Jr., Luna Timoll, Emma Sorenson, Nico Sorenson, Evan Brock, Sutton Baker Jr., Nolan Baker, Austin Combs, Noah Coram, Kamdyn Coram, Leeah Coram, and Hudson Coram; four brothers Enos Byler, Eli Byler, Raymond Byler and Atlee Byler Jr.; three sisters Anna (Ben) Shetler, Ada (Noah) Shetler, Emma Hershberger and her best friend Phyllis Cole who was like a sister to her. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Jacob D. Stutzman who passed away in 2005; her son Atlee J. Stutzman in 1973; two brothers, Ezra A. Byler. Jacob Byler; three sisters Katie Fisher, Edna Hershburger and Amanda Yoder and her step grandson Austin Morris in 2020. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday July 28, in The Jamestown Seventh-day Adventist Church. Friends will be received from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home and from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. Friday at Jamestown Seventh-day Adventist Church, two hours prior the service. Burial will be held at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
