Obituary of Clifford L. Barnes Jr.

Clifford L. Barnes, Jr., 93, of 83 Bowen Street, died Monday July 31, 2023, in UPMC Chautauqua. He was born May 26, 1930, in Youngsville, PA, a son of Clifford and Minnie McCoan Barnes, Sr. Following high school, he earned a degree in Theology from Bob Jones University. He was a veteran of the US Army. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Jamestown Board of Public Utilities as a foreman. He earlier had worked for National Worsted Mills and Warren State Hospital. He was a member of Jamestown First Free Methodist Church. Surviving is his wife Elizabeth Norton Barnes; a daughter Judy; four stepchildren Ray (Julie) Norton, retired Air Force, Michael (Charlotte) Norton, Lolamarie (Jason) Dodd and Bethanne Common and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews including Charles, Michael and John Mistretta and Johnny and Lindsey. He was preceded in death by his wife Theresa Barnes; a daughter Bonnie Smith and three sisters. The funeral will be held at 3 pm Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-8 pm Thursday in the funeral home.
