Obituary of Mary E. Vizine

Mary Elizabeth Vizine, 93, formerly of Jamestown, NY, passed away on August 12, 2023 at Dublin Retirement Village, Dublin, OH. Mary was born in Jamestown, NY, on November 23,1929 and was a long-time resident of Jamestown. She was a daughter of the late John and Rosalia Maria Aiello LaSeta and was a graduate of Barringer High School in Newark, NJ. She was employed by Bell Telephone in New Jersey and later by Marlin Rockwell Corporation for more than 20 years. Mary was a proud worker her entire life. Mary enjoyed ballroom dancing, home decorating, and watching classic movies of the 1930's and 40's. As a survivor of rheumatoid arthritis, she had a keen interest in understanding nutrition and how it affects the body. She was a life-long reader and was never shy about sharing facts and advice about life, nutrition, religion, politics and more with her family. She will be remembered as a kind and generous mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her husband, sisters, daughters, grandchildren, and large extended family. She especially loved baking Christmas cookies, often with her grandchildren, and entertaining family and friends during the holidays. She was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish, Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, as well as the Allen Park Women's Club. She is survived by her two daughters, Diane Vizine-Goetz (Nicholas Goetz) of Powell, OH and Sheryl Guzman (Peter), of Marcellus, NY; five grandchildren: Zachary Goetz of Powell, OH, Emma Goetz (Nathan Prescott) of Los Angeles, CA, Ali Maczaczyj of Syracuse, NY, Rachel Guzman of Marcellus, NY, and Gretchen Kelsey (Patrick), of Matthews, NC; and five great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Frank Vizine, who died on January 16, 2006; her sister Providence M. Caronia who died on October 12, 2021; and her brother Peter LaSeta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18th at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Visitation will not be observed. Entombment will be in the Holy Sepulchre Mausoleum.
