Obituary of Martha M. Pocza

Martha M. Pocza, 81, of Summit Park Drive, Bemus Point, died Wednesday August 16, 2023, in UPMC Chautauqua. She was born December 20, 1941, in Jamestown (Cassadaga), the daughter of the late Alvin and Dorothy Utts Swanson. Martha was a 1959 graduate of the Bemus Point School District and later graduated from the WCA Hospital Licensed Practical Nursing Program. Born and raised in the Chautauqua County area, she has had a lifelong love for the lake with fond memories with her family growing up along the Fluvanna side of the Lake. When retired, Martha found joy in peddle boating and Kayaking, especially in the evening during the Golden Hour of summers. She lived the remainder of her life in the Summit Park area of Bemus Point, taking in the wonderful view the lake with her favorite Blue Birds and Golden Finches. She looked forward to playing cards with her dearest friends weekly. Surviving is her husband Frank Pocza, whom she married January 19, 1966, two sons Darrin Pocza of Bemus Point and Drew Pocza of Seattle, WA; three grandchildren Levi, Dominik, Gabrielle and her sisters Lois Peshel, and Phyllis Orr. Martha was a wonderfully strong, caring, generous, and outspoken woman, mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She was dearly loved and will be missed tremendously by those who knew her well. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
