Obituary of Lawrence J. Bimber
Lawrence J. "Larry" Bimber, 73, of 120 Merlin Avenue, died Friday August 18, 2023, in his home, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born October 23, 1949, in Jamestown, a son of the late Laverne and Betty Wallace Bimber.
He was a 1967 graduate of Jamestown High School.
He was a Vietnam War veteran of the US Navy serving from 1968-72.
Prior to his retirement in 2002, he was employed by the Jamestown Police Department starting in 1975. In 1986 he was promoted to detective.
He was a member of the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion where he served as commander for 5 years and was on the executive board for 11 years.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He enjoyed hunting and lighting up a room with his laughter and kindness.
Surviving is his wife Belinda Simmons Bimber, whom he married August 22, 1987; three children Samantha Gould, Cheryl Scoma, and Larry Bimber, Jr; four grandchildren Aiden, Maddox and Deacon Gould and Dominic Scoma and three brothers Charlie Bimber of Sugar Grove, Dene (Renee) Bimber of Arizona and David Bimber of Rochester, NY; Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Cynthia Woodfiled.
In keeping with Larry's wishes, no funeral service or visitation will be observed.
