Obituary of Anhild M. Evanczik

Anhild M. Evanczik, 97, formerly of 49 Howard St. and 822 Forest Ave., passed away Monday, Aug. 21, 2023 at Heritage Village Rehab & Skilled Nursing. She was born in Jamestown on May 26, 1926, the daughter of the late John O. and Alfreda Stahre Carlson, and was a 1944 graduate of Jamestown High School. A secretary throughout her career, she was employed by Seidman & Seidman for 16 years, Micro-Line for 16 years, and retired in 1990 after 14 years with the former Fenton Park Nursing Home. Anhild was confirmed in First Lutheran Church and was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Surviving is her husband, Edward Evanczik, whom she married May 26, 1990; two stepdaughters, Barbara (Michael) Michalski of Cleveland, OH and Cathleen (Larry) Brown of Napoli, NY; two stepsons, Paul (Barbara) Evanczik of Lakewood, NY and Edward A, Evanczik of Tucson, AZ; 10 step grandchildren and 24 step great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, Anhild was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard O. Carlson. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Timothy Hoyer will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service in the funeral home Friday. The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of one's choice.
