Obituary of Gerard L. Gavigan

Gerard L. "Jerry" Gavigan, 69, of Ashville, NY, passed away Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023 at Absolute of Westfield. Jerry was born April 22, 1954 in Hilton, NY, a son of the late Joseph and Helen Perry Gavigan. He was employed as a welder by Eastman Kodak in Rochester and resided in Lyndonville, NY for many years. An area resident since 1997, Jerry belonged to Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Church and enjoyed barbecuing and gardening. He was the loving husband of Judith Monteau Gavigan, whom he married Feb. 13, 1984, and loving father of Anthony Gavigan and daughters, Kelly and Jennifer. Also surviving are a sister, Patricia Sullivan; brother, Roger Gavigan; and niece and nephew, Heidi Gavigan and Sean Gavigan. Along with his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a son, Joseph "Joey" Battaglia. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023 in Holy Apostles Parish, Ss Peter & Paul Church. Inurnment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed. The family suggests memorials may be made to Holy Apostles Parish.
