Obituary of Faye R. Hoard

Faye Robinson Hoard, 88, formerly of 128 Aldren Avenue, Jamestown, passed away Friday, September 8, 2023, in Lutheran Skilled Nursing Home, after a brief illness. Faye was born on December 12, 1934, in Kabob, NY. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Veva Belle Totman Robinson. Faye was a 1952 graduate of Cassadaga Valley High School. Before her retirement, she had a varied career. She worked as a travel agent for the AAA. Later she worked for the Caron Foundation (Westfield, PA) in medical records and was a transcriptionist for the Chit Chat Westfield drug and alcohol treatment center. A devout and faithful Christian all of her life, she was a member of the Wiltsie Community Church in Russell PA. She was an accomplished musician, singing in the choir and serving as the church's pianist/ organist, until failing eyesight made this too difficult. After moving to the Lutheran campus, Faye's heart for service found her volunteering for the RSVP at Lutheran Social Services. Her hobbies included sewing, quilt making, gardening, and reading. Surviving are her daughter Lisa (David) Christ of Jamestown, son Kevin (Sherilyn) Dyer of Fairmount, WV, stepchildren Kimberly (Larry) Sweet of Lakewood, Kristin (David) Carnovale of Indianapolis, IN, and Daniel (Peg Rusconi) Hoard of Cincinnati, OH; five step-grandchildren: Molly Kostka, Emily Sweet, Zachary Carnovale, Rachel Carnovale, and Sam Hoard, and one step-great grandson, Sullivan Kostka. Besides her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her first husband Donald Dyer, whom she married September 7, 1962, and who died August 5, 1981; her second husband Lawrence "Larry" Hoard, whom she married August 31, 1984, and who died February 11, 2022; her brother Ralph Robinson who died last year, and her step granddaughter Katy Sweet, who died in 2002. Faye was a loving and compassionate daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She lived an honorable life, and was known for her positive attitude, faithful witness, and ready smile. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. "Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your Lord".
