Obituary of Neal E. Morrison

Friends and family are invited to a celebration of the life of Neal E. Morrison to be held at 2:00 PM September 24th at the Jamestown Skeet Club, 1310 Hunt Road, Ashville. Neal was born to Frank E. Morrison and Mildred Palmer Morrison on September 13, 1942, in Fort Bragg, NC. When they returned from Germany, he started school at Southwestern Central where he later played football and tried to learn Latin. He attended JCC for two years after his graduation from SWCS. He had a lifelong love of hunting and fishing, taking trips to Alaska and Canada with his former teacher and friend, Harold Burgard. From one trip he brought home Carl the Caribou. He hunted pheasants in Wyoming and fished in many lakes and one ocean with his brother Tim. He only had one job. He started working as a toolmaker at Ring Punch & Die at 20 years old and retired from there over 50 years later. He was also a talented gunsmith and had his own shop from 1969 until his death on July 21, 2023. He died at his home surrounded by loved ones. His family can never adequately thank Lori from the Visiting Nurses Association and Jennifer, Julie, and Charsy from Chautauqua Hospice for their expert and compassionate care of Neal and Faith. He is survived by his wife Faith, daughter Maureen (Joseph) Hertzler, and sons Bret (Nanette) Morrison and Heath (Kathleen) Morrison. His brother Timothy (Kristine) Morrison, little sister Kathleen (Gerald) Paladino, brother-in-law Vincent (Ann) Gates, his good friend Paul (Marybeth) Mazzone as well as many nieces and nephews also survive him. Neal and Faith have three grandchildren: Tiffany Mahoney, Erik Morrison, and Sarah (Brian) Popp. Their eight great grandchildren are: Autumn and Tavian Grant; Hunter and Faith Warrior; Madalyn, Erik, Jr. and Triston Morrison: and Elliot Popp. Their great-great granddaughter is Kynsley Thomas.
