Obituary of Roy Richard Johnson

R. Richard "Dick" Johnson, Jr., 93, formerly of 151 Indiana Ave. in Jamestown, went home to be with his Lord at The Landing of Stow in Stow, Ohio on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023. He was born in Jamestown on July 15, 1930, the son of the late Roy and Linnea Johnson, and was a 1948 graduate of Jamestown High School. Dick served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. He then worked as an engineer at the former Jamestown Telephone Company for forty years. He had been a member of the Jamestown Church of the Nazarene since 1948 and later attended Levant Wesleyan Church and Fluvanna Community Church for many years. Surviving are two daughters, Catherine (Mark) McInturff of Stow, OH and Shirley Johnson of Lakeland, FL; a son, James Johnson of Lakeland; stepdaughter, Bonnie (Jeff) Bucklin of Florida and stepson, Randy Holm of New York;granddaughter, Amy (Jay) Lepard of Stow; grandson, Ryan (Amanda) McInturff of Titusville, FL; two step-grandsons, Shane Bucklin and Dillon Bucklin; and four great granddaughters, Allison and Molly Lepard of Stow, and Madison and Everly McInturff of Titusville. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Engle Johnson in 2019, and a granddaughter, Allison McInturff. Dick will be missed by many. He had a heart for people and wanted them to know Jesus loved them. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home, led by Rev. Dayle Keefer. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends for ½ hour prior to the service Saturday.
