Mrs. Wellman, Clay, Tay and Alex-
Very sorry for the loss of Mr. Wellan. He was a great man and certainly someone I looked up to as a family man, person, businessman and ranking member of the military. Lots of fond memories hanging out at the house on Prendergast and being around your family. I’m sorry I missed the services and the opportunity to celebrate Mr. Wellman’s life.

It's with great sadness that I learned of Barclay's passing. My deepest condolences to Diane and the family.
I've never met a nicer person. Living in San Antonio, TX I rarely got to see "Barc" & Diane except usually once a year at our annual Fourth of July picnic at the Lake. Always ready with a welcome smile and friendly conversation, it was a pleasure and an honor to know Barclay. May he rest in peace.

The family of Lee 'Barney' Kellogg (1932-1995), and Joyce, extend to each of you our most-sincere sympathy in the passing of your loved one. Barclay was a very nice man. Our bowling team of many years ago used to see the Reservists in uniform when our bowling team went for after-bowling cocktails at one of the local Jamestown clubs they frequented after meeting nights. Be strong; I know you will.

MG Wellman was my company commander when I first joined the Jamestown USAR and later was my Battalion commander, Brigade commander, and finally 98th Division Commander. He was highly respected and liked by all who served with him. He always attended our USAR reunions and was president of our local chapter of the Reserve Officers Association for many years
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. My condolences to Diane and his family.

I am saddened to hear of Barclay’s passing. I remember as a 6 year old child playing in the yard on Ridgley Terrace and seeing “Mr. Wellman” come out with his beautiful dog Amie to check on all of us and keep us in line, which was hard to do. So many great memories of Barclay and Diane letting us kids be kids in the 70s and 80s.
My Heartfelt Condolences to Diane, Clay, Taylor and Alex and their entire families.
❤️ Love, Tommy Anderson

From time to time Barclay and I have talked about our memories of things we used to do and could do no longer. We were in complete agreement that the only sorrow involved was for those who had never had, or took, the opportunity to do what we so fondly remembered.
At the top of our list was fly fishing and the environs in which it was practiced. Barc was a later-in-life practitioner, not by choice but because his many years of Army responsibilities prevented him from joining "the boys" on local weekend trips and the occasional longer forays to the mountain rivers of the west. With retirement, however, came an acceleration into the contemplative man's sport that left a virtual contrail of fishermen’s tall tales. Coming late to the game had the advantage of lessons shared by others, and the most important of those was, "This is where we are going."
Barc's fishing-venue bucket list changed to "been there" pretty fast. Fishing and bonding with a Sportsmen's group guaranteed a new experience every summer, and then each September returning to proven waters of the west meant boots-in-the-waters where few have had the fortitude or privilege to fish: Baker Creek, Gallatin, West Boulder, Little Firehole, Shields, Gibbon-Virginia Meadows, Mill Creek, Madison-West fork, Madison-Beaver Meadows, Big Hole, Soda Butte, Lamar, Slough Creek, Bacon Rind, and the great Yellowstone. Whew! Not bad for a lifetime, let alone retirement years. And Barclay was not among the tyro/tourist crowd. He was an accomplished fly fisherman who experienced many twenty-fish days.
One young lady who had the privilege of fishing out west with "Mr. Wellman" texted in early this week: "So now he is headed for the big trout stream in sky, and he won’t be stuck in the back seat with his feet propped up on the beer cases,"
